The Henry

HIU Enrichment

Deaf Awareness training, designed by our Deaf Instructor, is delivered across the school. Deaf Awareness Week is celebrated by the school and fundraising activities are organised for charities such as Hearing Dogs for the Deaf. Students have participated in a deaf awareness assembly and students from across the school perform as part of the BSL choir.

Our students are included in all aspects of school life and participate in a variety of school activities including team sports, sports council and drama productions. We have had student leaders and Year 11 prize winners.

As part of a programme to support personal, social and emotional wellbeing there are opportunities to take part in a range of events organised by both local and national deaf organisations. These have included trips to West End productions with specialist communication access, Tennis Festivals, The National Life and Deaf Festival, Deaf World Exhibitions and links to charities, such as Deaf.F.
