This Cambridge National Certificate (CNC) is the equivalent of a GCSE and comprises of an examination at the end of Year 11, alongside two pieces of coursework that are completed during Year 10.  In year 9 students complete tasks that link to both the exam and coursework element.  

 

The topics covered in the course are:

Understanding reproduction and the roles and responsibilities of parenthood

Understanding antenatal care and preparation for birth

Understanding postnatal checks, postnatal provision and conditions for development

Understanding how to recognise, manage and prevent childhood illnesses

Understanding child safety

Understanding the equipment and nutritional needs of children from birth to five years

Understanding the development norms of a child from birth to five years
