Year 11 students are required to be in school as normal.
The school will be closed on Thursday 17 October 2013 to all students in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10.
As you will be aware from the media, colleagues in the NUT and NASUWT unions will be taking Industrial Action on the 17 October 2013. The action (a one day strike) will result in whole school closures across the country. This action is not against the school itself but is part of national industrial action organised by these trades unions. All teachers are employed under the School Teachers Pay and Conditions which state that they cannot provide cover for other teachers unless the circumstances are unforeseen.
The decision to close the school or send students home is never taken lightly, but in this instance, where staff have elected to take lawful industrial action, the school has no choice but to take appropriate steps to ensure the health and safety of all students.
Year 11 must bring the appropriate equipment for lessons on a Thursday Week A. There will be no after school activities and no late bus provided on this day.
Our evening community activities will continue to run as normal.
