Young actors praised at the Shakespeare Schools Festival
Our young cast receive great feedback on their performance of As You Like It.
On 3rd November, 20 gifted and talented actors from Year 8 and 9 performed As You Like It as part of the Shakespeare Schools Festival at The Point in Eastleigh.
The Festival allows participating schools to perform 30 minute versions of Shakespeare’s best loved plays in a professional theatre, as well as the chance to take part in a workshop run by professional directors. There were three other schools involved, all of which had older casts, which is further evidence of the great achievements and skills of our young group.
Our production was praised for the “concentration and energy“ of the cast as well as the “intelligence and understanding” they showed. This feedback reflects all of the hard work and dedication shown by our cast all the way through the production process and is a fitting testament to the quality they achieved.
Although it was an ensemble performance which means that all cast members were equally important to the success of the play, special mentions must go to Alastair Williams who stepped in the day before the performance to take over from an actor who was unwell and to Rachel Wandless and Isaac Crawford who played Rosalind and Orlando magnificently.
See below for pictures of our cast rehearsing on the day of the performance.
