Relationships and Sex Education

In September 2020, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) was made a statutory requirement to deliver to all secondary school students.

At The Henry Beaufort School, Relationships and Sex Education is delivered in three ways; through Personal Development Days for all year groups, through specific tutor sessions and for Year 10 through dedicated RSE lessons.

Students in Year 10 receive one RSE lesson per fortnight on their timetable.  These sessions cover the following statutory themes:

  • Respectful relationships, including friendships.
  • Intimate and sexual relationships, including sexual health.
  • Being Safe
  • Online and Media
  • Families

Within each theme, a range of topics are covered and discussed.

Our aim is to ensure that every child is taught by experienced staff and that they feel safe and confident in their RSE lessons.

Details of how Relationships and Sex Education is taught and covered at The Henry Beaufort School can be found on the curriculum overview below.
