Curriculum
Henry Beaufort School is different from the many schools in the local area, grouping its students into Curricular Tutorial Teams rather than dividing students by year groups. There are seven teams in the school, each consisting of five tutor groups from Year 7 to 11, each based within different curriculum facilities: English, Maths, Science, Technology, Art & PE, Humanities and Languages. Integrating students of different ages and levels of education helps promote the cooperative and friendly environment which Henry Beaufort School prides itself.
The seven CTTs are named after seven European capitals: Prague, Moscow, Warsaw, Rome, Athens, Berlin and Luxemburg, each reflecting something of the curricular nature where their tutor groups are based.
Henry Beaufort, born in France, once Bishop of Winchester and later Papal Legate for Germany, Hungary and Bohemia, served as inspiration for this international theme and the tutor bases are symbolic of our strong international links and the school’s multicultural environment. It may sound strange for a student to be in 8 Moscow, but to the students it is second nature.
