Success for our gymnasts at regional competition

On Sunday 22nd April, gymnasts from Henry Beaufort School travelled to Beaconsfield in Buckinghamshire to compete at the Southern Regional Floor and Vault Competition. Our Under-19 team walked away with gold medals, while our Under-13 team won silver in what was a first ever competition for many of them.

Last Friday we were pleased to welcome Rosie Sharkey from Trinity College Cambridge to speak to students in Year 10 and 11. Her role is in Schools Liaison and she spoke about applying to university. She talked about the advantages of going to university and about the importance of researching and choosing the right courses, both for A level and at university.

Host families required for European students

The visiting students will be here as part of the Comenius Project - a multinational project which runs with 3 different schools within Europe.

Minister for Schools pays a visit to Henry Beaufort

On Thursday 23 February, Henry Beaufort played host to a visit by Minister for Schools, Nick Gibb, and our local MP, Steve Brine. They met staff and governors to find out more about the school before meeting students and answering questions on government policy. The visitors were then given a tour of the campus by our Student Leaders and Ambassadors.

Learn French or Spanish in Year 7

The Modern Foreign Languages department at The Henry Beaufort School is delighted to be able to offer the choice of either Spanish or French to Year 7 students starting in September 2012. The year group will be divided, with half the year group learning French and the other half learning Spanish. Students who progress well will be able to learn an additional foreign language in Year 8.

Diamond Jubilee - Get your work in print

The parish of Littleton and Harestock has big plans to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in June. Part of the celebrations will be a commemorative brochure which will be delivered free to about 2000 local homes in May. The organisers would really love some contributions from Henry Beaufort students.

You can find all the information you need, including a special options video, by clicking here. Year 9's need to complete the form by Monday 20th February 2012 and place it in the box in reception.

Autumn trip to Dierdorf

The Henry Beaufort School enjoys strong links with schools across the world, which adds a truly international dimension to our learning environment. Learning the art of animation

As part of the Year 11 Media course, our students have been making short pieces of animation. Working in the school's Media Suite, the students have been learning how to create stop-motion animation films. They planned their ideas on storyboards before embarking on the intricate and time-consuming task of using animation to bring their ideas to life.

Shortly before half-term, a number of enthusiastic parents came to school to discover how science is delivered and assessed at Key Stage 3. After a brief introduction, parents were given a challenge - to calculate the optimum biscuit dunking time.

One-to-One Review Day

Thank you to all parents who attended the One-to-One Review Day on Wednesday 11th January. The day provided an opportunity to meet with tutors and discuss individual student action plans for the coming months. It also supported the school's aim of working with parents to ensure that all students continue to make progress and focus on achieving their very best.

From Hubei to Henry Beaufort

On Thursday 8th December, twenty-eight teachers from Hubei Province in China paid a visit to Henry Beaufort School. The Chinese teachers are taking part in a study tour of the UK and Henry Beaufort is the seventh school that they have visited so far. The main tour group, which includes over 100 teachers, are based in London, and this was the first time that any of them had visited a school outside the capital.

Students mark Remembrance Day

At 11 am today, Henry Beaufort students held a two minute silence to mark Remembrance Day. It gave our students time to reflect on the bravery and selfless dedication of those who have given their lives in the service of our country. The school is enormously proud of the mature and thoughtful way in which students marked the silence.

Visit to Deaf World

Students and staff from the hearing impaired unit at Henry Beaufort went along to this year’s Deaf World event at The Guildhall in Winchester. Deaf World is the South Coast’s largest annual deaf exhibition and it provided a valuable opportunity to learn more about different organisations.

New outdoor canopies

The school would like to thank the Henry Beaufort Association (HBA) and everyone who helped to raise funds for two new outdoor seating areas with canopies for our students. The association has been able to donate a large sum of money thanks to the generosity and support of parents.

Staff raise money for Macmillan

Staff at Henry Beaufort have been turning cakes into cash to support Macmillan. Teachers and support staff brought in cakes to raise money for the cancer charity which is marking its 100th birthday. Together they raised a total of £93.

Shoebox Appeal - Thank you

Thank you to everyone who donated items for this year's Shoebox Appeal. Students and staff at Henry Beaufort managed to collect 140 boxes to send to disadvantaged children around the world in time for Christmas.

Shoebox appeal

Henry Beaufort is participating in Rotary International’s Shoebox Appeal again this year to help disadvantaged children in poorer parts of the world. The boxes will make a positive difference to the lives of children in places such as Albania, Montenegro, Tanzania, and Romania. Final date for receipt of boxes is 14th October 2011.

Pearl of Africa Choir visit Henry Beaufort School

The internationally acclaimed Pearl of Africa Children’s Choir visited Henry Beaufort in Winchester on Friday 23rd September. The choir are from a school in Uganda, which was built and funded by The Molly and Paul Childcare Foundation of Uganda.

The school is delighted to announce a record breaking year for results with 70% of students attaining 5 + A* - C grades including Maths and English.

80% of students attained 5 + A* - C grades and 33% of all students received 3 + A*/A grades, a 6% increase on last year.
